Luke Farritor and his team won the 2023 Vesuvius Challenge by using AI and CT scans to partially translate ancient papyrus scrolls.

Their technology deciphered over ten Greek characters and a philosophical text on Epicurean beliefs from the sealed Herculaneum scrolls.

The team aims to make the majority of these scrolls readable and will continue competing for a $100,000 prize.

This achievement opens possibilities for uncovering lost philosophical works and could significantly impact our understanding of ancient history.
