Sony's 'Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire' has become a blockbuster hit, crossing the $1 billion mark in global earnings.

The film's successful opening weekend contributed significantly with $45.2 million in the U.S. and $16.4 million from international markets.

The original Ghostbusters cast reunites in the movie, complemented by the addition of characters from 'Ghostbusters: Afterlife', including Paul Rudd's role.

'Dune: Part Two' and 'Kung Fu Panda 4' also performed well, with the former reaching $574.4 million globally and the latter dominating international box office.

Despite 'Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire's' current lead at the U.S. box office, the upcoming 'Godzilla X Kong: The New Empire' poses a new competitive threat.
