Elon Musk has initiated a lawsuit against OpenAI on March 6, 2024, alleging the company has strayed from its founding goal of developing AI for the good of humanity.

OpenAI disclosed that there were initial plans in 2017 to form a for-profit venture with Musk, which fell through due to disagreements.

Following the failed negotiation, Musk exited OpenAI and sought to create an AGI rival within his company, Tesla.

OpenAI expressed that Musk's decision to start a competing AGI project and file a lawsuit contradicts the inspiration and higher aims he originally instilled in them.

The lawsuit comes at a time when OpenAI's latest AI model, GPT-4 Turbo, has surpassed the performance of a competing AI, Anthropics Claude 3, highlighting the increasing competition in the AI marketplace.
