AstraZeneca Concedes Vaccine-Linked Clots in UK Court Amid Lawsuit
May 1, 2024
AstraZeneca has admitted in a UK court that its COVID-19 vaccine can cause a rare condition called Thrombosis with Thrombocytopenia Syndrome (TTS).
The admission was made through legal documents amid a lawsuit involving 51 cases of serious injuries or deaths potentially linked to the vaccine.
In India, 175 crore Covishield shots were given, with 36 confirmed TTS cases and 18 fatalities reported in 2021.
While acknowledging the risk of TTS, AstraZeneca emphasizes that the vaccine's benefits in preventing COVID-19 greatly exceed the potential risks.
Global health experts and regulatory authorities continue to support the vaccine's safety and efficacy, noting its significant role in managing the pandemic.
