A 24-year-old man was seriously injured in a dog attack involving a Pitbull/Staffordshire bull terrier cross in Aberavon, South Wales.

The incident occurred at Blair Way at 7am on Monday, requiring critical care from an air ambulance before the man was transported to the hospital by road.

South Wales Police responded by sedating and removing the dog from the scene.

This attack is part of a growing trend of rising dog attacks by dangerous breeds in the UK, with a 21% increase in such incidents recorded by police in England and Wales.

The extent of the man's injuries remains unknown as authorities continue their investigation.
