Yolanda Saldívar, who was convicted of murdering Selena Quintanilla-Pérez, is seeking parole in 2025 after nearly 30 years in prison.

If her parole request is denied, the panel will schedule a new review date between one to five years later.

Currently 64 years old, Saldívar's eligibility date for parole is set for March 30, 2025, and she has initiated the parole review process as required by Texas law.

Reports indicate that Saldívar has maintained a good standing prison record and is eligible for inmate visitation.

The Quintanilla family is expected to be informed in January 2025 regarding Saldívar's potential release.

In a 2024 Oxygen True Crime docuseries, Saldívar claimed that public opinion convicted her before her trial and reiterated her assertion that the shooting was accidental.

Saldívar has consistently maintained that she did not intentionally kill Selena, a claim she reiterated in various interviews and the recent docuseries.

She described the confrontation with Selena as emotionally charged, suggesting that Selena was attempting to guilt her into staying in their working relationship.

Prior to the murder, the Quintanilla family had terminated Saldívar's employment due to allegations of embezzlement from Selena's fan club and boutiques.

Selena was shot by Saldívar on March 31, 1995, during a confrontation over these embezzlement allegations in a Corpus Christi hotel room.

During the incident, Saldívar shot Selena in the back with a .38 Taurus Model 85 revolver, and Selena later died in the hospital from her injuries.

Despite her tragic death, Selena's legacy endures; she is one of the best-selling female artists in Latin music, with numerous posthumous awards, including a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award.
