October 10, 2025
The operation was uncovered through search warrants executed at a home in Keysborough and an eight-hectare property in Devon Meadows, resulting in the arrest of eight suspects.
Authorities in Melbourne have dismantled a sophisticated illegal cannabis operation valued at $15 million, which involved large-scale cultivation in gardening igloos.
During a two-day investigation, police found approximately 4,500 cannabis plants at various stages of growth, which are now set to be destroyed after forensic analysis.
Officers noted that the offenders employed sophisticated concealment techniques to hide their activities, highlighting the significance of this seizure in preventing large quantities of drugs from reaching the streets.
In addition to the cannabis, police seized other illegal items including a firearm, amphetamines, cocaine, ammunition, and cash from the property.
Following the operation, three men aged 32, 37, and 41 were released on summons for cultivation charges, while two others were questioned and released pending further inquiries.
