Lloyds Bank Launches AI Training for Executives, Aiming to Revolutionize Digital Banking and Leadership
October 13, 2025
Lloyds Bank has launched a comprehensive six-month AI training program for its top executives, including CEO Charlie Nunn, in partnership with Cambridge Spark and the University of Cambridge, with the goal of integrating AI into its strategic operations.
The training features hands-on sessions and virtual masterclasses focusing on generative AI applications such as market insights, customer relationship management, and ethical AI use, with over 110 senior managers having completed the 80-hour course since its launch in March, and approximately 300 expected to finish by the end of 2026.
Lloyds has designated Bristol as its 'AI capital' of the UK, hosting the largest concentration of AI experts and a team of nearly 1,300 tech specialists, including hundreds of new apprentices and graduates, reflecting its commitment to AI innovation.
As part of its digital transformation, Lloyds is reducing physical branches in favor of online banking, positioning itself as the UK's largest digital bank with around 21 million app users, and actively integrating AI tools like virtual assistants and complaint management systems to enhance customer engagement.
The entire Lloyds executive team, including CEO Charlie Nunn, finance chief William Chalmers, and Scottish Widows boss Chirantan Barua, is expected to complete the AI training program by the end of 2026, emphasizing the bank’s focus on AI-driven leadership.
