The NSW government has announced the construction of 100 new public preschools, marking the largest expansion of early childhood education in the state's history.

Acting Minister Courtney Houssos highlighted that families in Western Sydney and regional NSW have historically faced limited access to quality early childhood education.

She criticized the previous government for not building any public preschools in 12 years and emphasized the current government's commitment to improving early childhood learning.

The project involves a $769 million investment aimed at doubling the number of public preschools in NSW, with 51 in Sydney and 49 in regional areas.

Once completed, the new preschools will serve up to 9,000 children across the state.
