Andhra Pradesh Unveils Ambitious Quantum Initiative to Lead Global Innovation by 2030
December 11, 2025
AP launches its own quantum mission and unveils the Quantum Computing Policy 2025–2030 to establish the state as a first-mover in national quantum initiatives, fostering startups, researchers, and companies.
The policy positions Andhra Pradesh as India’s leading hub for quantum innovation through research, hardware production, global collaboration, and skill development.
Global tech giants including NVIDIA, AWS, and WISER are collaborating with AQV to support research, product development, and ecosystem integration in Amaravati.
A governance framework underpins the policy, featuring an Apex Committee and an Expert Committee to scientifically oversee projects from startups, universities, and industries.
Quantum computing is expected to transform sectors such as healthcare, cybersecurity, climate modelling, space research, and advanced AI, driving modern computing forward.
The Amaravati Quantum Academy will train 50,000 students and nurture at least 100 elite researchers and startups over the next decade.
Academic institutions are incentivized to turn ideas into prototypes, while manufacturers receive subsidies on capital investment, SGST refunds, import support for early-stage projects, and concessions on land and power.
By 2030, Amaravati aims to rank among the top five quantum hubs globally, joining cities like Boston, Munich, Singapore, and Tokyo.
Amaravati positions itself as a national and global hub for quantum computing through the AQV, hosting South Asia’s first 133-qubit quantum computer.
AQV is an integrated ecosystem combining hardware, software, research, and talent development to sustain long-term quantum research and industry growth.
Agreements with IBM and Tata Consultancy Services enable critical quantum infrastructure and research facilities in Amaravati, including the Amaravati Quantum Computing Centre and Amaravati Quantum Valley.
The AQV aims to create thousands of high-value jobs and build a steady pipeline of specialised quantum professionals through the Amaravati Quantum Academy.
