Viva 2026! is organized by the municipal company EGEAC and designed in phases to manage crowds and safety.

Post-event work begins around 01:30, with disassembly and urban cleaning and a phased reopening of streets coordinated by urban hygiene services and local parishes.

Terreiro do Paço area will be closed to traffic and pedestrians from 18:00, with the metro station closing earlier at 17:00 and safety checks beginning; public access resumes progressively from 19:30.

Lisbon is planning enhanced New Year’s Eve transport, with the metro running until around 01:00 on January 1 and extra trains on the Blue line, alongside increased Carris bus frequencies for the night.

CP – Comboios de Portugal will boost urban rail services for New Year’s Eve, including extended schedules on Rossio–Sintra, Cais do Sodré–Cascais, and Cascais–Cais do Sodré routes at specific late-night/early-morning times.

Metro will operate through the night, ending at 01:00 on January 1, 2026, following talks between the Lisbon City Council and Metro Lisboa.

Security restrictions prohibit blunt or dangerous objects, weapons, knives, glass bottles (including champagne bottles), and umbrellas.

City-wide security will be reinforced with six entry points into the festival area requiring screening: Rua do Arsenal, Rua do Ouro, Rua Augusta, Rua dos Fanqueiros, Rua da Alfândega, and Avenida Infante D. Henrique.

If someone goes missing, especially a child, the public should contact a police officer and the Baixa Pombalina Second Squad for assistance.

The program features performances by DJ Mojo and MC Márcio Jesus, Plutônio at 22:30, a drone piromusical at 23:55, fireworks at midnight, I Love Reggaeton at 00:15, and the event ends at 01:00.

A robust city security dispositif will be deployed for the Terreiro do Paço New Year’s Eve celebration, coordinated by city hall in collaboration with PSP, Municipal Police, Civil Protection, and Firefighters.
