EU Invests €422 Million in Green Transport: 39 Projects to Transform Fuel Infrastructure
  • The European Commission is investing a substantial 422 million euros to fund 39 innovative projects aimed at enhancing alternative fuel infrastructure across various transport sectors, including road, air, and maritime.

  • These initiatives are designed to bolster the alternative fuel supply infrastructure within the Trans-European Transport Network (TEN-T), significantly contributing to decarbonization efforts for a cleaner transport sector.

  • Among the key projects, the funding will facilitate the installation of around 2,500 electric charging points for light vehicles and 2,400 for heavy vehicles, alongside the establishment of 35 hydrogen refueling stations for cars, trucks, and buses.

  • Selected projects focus on creating public electric charging stations, including high-power megawatt chargers for both light and heavy vehicles, as well as developing hydrogen refueling stations and onshore power facilities in ports.

  • The initiative also encompasses the electrification of airport ground services at eight airports, greening efforts at nine ports, and the establishment of two refueling facilities for ammonia and methanol.

  • One notable project, led by Mota Engil Renewing from Portugal, will receive 2.94 million euros to install 66 publicly accessible charging parks, which will feature a total of 94 charging points, including four at 350kW and 90 at 150kW, primarily for passenger vehicles.
