DiscoverEU 2025: 36,000 Free Train Tickets for Young Explorers Across Europe
April 2, 2025
The application deadline is set for April 16, 2025, at 11 AM Lisbon time.
Since its launch in 2018, DiscoverEU has supported 355,000 youths, fostering curiosity about European history, culture, and diversity.
Winners will have the opportunity to travel for free by train for 30 days between July 1, 2025, and September 30, 2026, with alternative transport options available for those in remote areas.
The European Commission has launched a new cycle of the 'DiscoverEU' initiative, offering nearly 36,000 free train tickets for young people to explore Europe.
This initiative ensures that young people living in remote areas or islands, such as the Azores and Madeira, can participate in DiscoverEU.
In exceptional cases where no other transportation is available, young participants may also travel by plane to facilitate access.
While train travel is the primary mode of transport, the program also considers alternative options like ferries and buses based on environmental and logistical factors.
Eligible applicants must be born between July 1, 2006, and June 30, 2007, and can apply from April 2 to April 16, 2025, via the European Youth Portal.
The program promotes values such as international mobility, cultural curiosity, and language learning, essential for the future of young people.
Participants will receive a 'DiscoverEU' youth card, which provides discounts on cultural visits, learning activities, transport, accommodation, and meals.
Group applications are allowed, enabling up to five people to apply together, with one designated group leader.
Applicants must accurately provide their ID number and complete an EU quiz to enhance their chances of receiving a travel pass.
