While commercial 6G networks are anticipated globally by 2030, India plans to accelerate its efforts with pilot projects and research, starting trials as early as 2027-2028.

India is preparing to launch 6G technology utilizing Terahertz frequency bands, promising speeds of up to 1 terabit per second, which is nearly 100 times faster than current 5G networks.

The use of Terahertz (THz) bands, ranging from 0.1 to 10 THz, will facilitate massive data throughput, ultra-low latency, and the ability to connect millions of devices in a dense area.

This next-generation technology will offer significantly higher capacity and reliability compared to 5G, while also reducing delays, thereby enhancing user experiences in crowded environments.

Minister Pemmasani emphasized that this technological advancement will bring transformative changes in connectivity across various sectors.

The Indian government aims to establish the country as a leader in digital infrastructure through the implementation of 6G, focusing on empowering smart cities and advancing Industry 4.0.
