DeSantis has stressed the urgency of establishing the new accrediting body during Trump's presidency, suggesting that future administrations may reverse such approvals.

If the CPHE receives federal approval, it could allow Florida to break away from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC), which currently oversees accreditation for the state's public colleges.
