Indonesia AirAsia has launched a new direct route from Adelaide to Denpasar, Bali, enhancing travel options for Australians.

The Bali-Adelaide route is expected to strengthen tourism, education, and cultural exchanges between Indonesia and Australia, as emphasized by Indonesia’s Ambassador to Australia, Siswo Pramono.

Tourism Minister Zoe Bettison noted that the increase in direct international flights will significantly boost South Australia's economy, which is currently valued at a record $1.3 billion.

The airline will operate four flights a week using a 180-seat A320-200 aircraft, with flights scheduled to arrive in Adelaide on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

This new route offers over 74,000 seats annually, enhancing connectivity between South Australia and Bali.

Aussie travelers will also benefit from connecting to more than 130 other destinations across Asia through Denpasar, Bali's transit hub.

Adelaide's attractions, such as Kangaroo Island and world-class vineyards, are expected to draw more international tourists and strengthen economic ties.

The introduction of this route is anticipated to benefit the South Australian economy, with Indonesia contributing $49 million in 2024, marking an 18% increase from the previous year.

Recent data shows a rise in Australian tourist arrivals to Indonesia, with 511,678 visits recorded from January to April 2025, a 6% increase from the previous year.

In 2024, Bali welcomed over 2 million tourists, with Australians accounting for 474,277 visits, reflecting a 7% increase.

Brenton Cox, Managing Director of Adelaide Airport, highlighted the route's significance in strengthening ties between Indonesia and Australia, particularly in tourism and education.

Captain Achmad Sadikin Abdurachman stated that the inaugural flight expands affordable travel options for passengers, connecting them to over 130 destinations worldwide.
