Gujarat Unveils Ambitious AI Action Plan 2025-2030 to Drive Technological Advancement and Economic Growth
July 27, 2025
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel has approved a comprehensive Action Plan for the Implementation of Artificial Intelligence (AI) from 2025 to 2030, aimed at enhancing decision-making, citizen services, and welfare programs.
This Action Plan serves as a strategic blueprint to equip the state government with advanced AI capabilities and foster a robust AI ecosystem.
The initiative was announced during the annual Chintan Shibir in Somnath, where CM Patel highlighted the importance of technology-driven governance and socio-economic progress.
The roadmap for this action plan includes six key pillars: data governance, expansion of digital infrastructure, capacity building for over 250,000 individuals, research and development partnerships, startup facilitation, and a secure AI strategy.
To lead the implementation of these strategies, a dedicated AI and Deep Tech Mission will be established, focusing on collaboration among startups, academic research, and industries.
This mission will also prioritize skilling and reskilling the workforce in AI and related technologies, enhancing innovation within the state.
The plan will be executed in phases, starting with initiatives such as creating a state-level AI data repository and launching department-specific pilot projects.
Innovative approaches in Gujarat will include the establishment of an AI Centre of Excellence, high-performance GPU infrastructure, and initiatives for AI training, contributing to a future-ready economy.
Plans also include training over 250,000 individuals in AI and related fields, with the establishment of AI factories in smaller cities to enhance technological access.
The action plan aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for India to become a global leader in digital empowerment through extensive AI adoption across various sectors.
A 10-member expert AI Taskforce Committee has been established to guide the implementation of the action plan and ensure AI integration across sectors such as healthcare, education, and agriculture.
Overall, the Action Plan represents a significant step in Gujarat's digital governance journey, contributing to the state's vision of Viksit Gujarat @2047 and the national vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.
