Lucinda Williams to Launch 'Lucinda's' Honky-Tonk Bar in NYC's East Village
July 29, 2025
Lucinda Williams, the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter, is set to open a new honky-tonk bar named 'Lucinda's' in New York City's East Village at 169 Avenue A.
Before the public opening, a private event will take place on July 29, 2025, featuring live performances by Williams and her band, which will be livestreamed on SiriusXM's Outlaw Country.
The bar will officially debut to the public on July 31, 2025, at the former site of Brownie’s.
Williams has partnered with Laura McCarthy, co-founder of Brownie’s, and Kelley Swindall, an East Village bar manager, to manage the venue.
The venue will showcase artwork from notable artists like Jon Langford and Michael Worthington, with some pieces available for sale, while also paying tribute to the late Jeremy Tepper, a significant figure in Outlaw Country music.
Lucinda's will offer a menu featuring traditional Southern drinks, boiled peanuts, and a curated wine list by Williams, creating a welcoming atmosphere for country music enthusiasts.
The bar will honor Tepper and host various events, including bluegrass nights, songwriter open mic nights, and live country music performances on Fridays.
The initial schedule of events includes live country music on August 1 and 2, and a weekly country karaoke event on Fridays.
The opening concert will feature Laura Cantrell, along with DJs Moonshine and Prison Rodeo from Honky Tonkin’ in Queens.
McCarthy expressed excitement about establishing a honky-tonk bar in a location rich with musical history since the late 1980s.
In addition to the bar, Williams has recently released new albums, including 'Stories From a Rock n Roll Heart' in 2023, and will be part of the Outlaw Music Festival tour in August 2025.
The venue aims to create a relaxed atmosphere focused on live music, embodying the spirit of the East Village's vibrant musical heritage.
