The David Bowie Centre is set to open on September 13, 2025, within the Victoria & Albert Museum's new East Storehouse located in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Stratford, east London.

Nile Rodgers, the Chic star, is guest-curating a display that highlights his personal connection with Bowie, showcasing personal correspondence between them.

This display will feature significant items from their collaboration, including a bespoke suit worn by Bowie during the Serious Moonlight tour and photographs from the recording of the hit single 'Let’s Dance'.

The V&A Museum acquired the David Bowie archive in 2023, which contains over 90,000 items, with assistance from the David Bowie Estate, the Blavatnik Family Foundation, and Warner Music Group.

The centre will consist of three zones featuring curated displays, audiovisual installations, and study areas, allowing visitors to explore Bowie's extensive creative legacy.

The exhibition will include rotating displays every six months with fresh guest curators, alongside sections curated by V&A staff in collaboration with local youth from London boroughs.

Entry to the David Bowie Centre will be free but ticketed, with opportunities to book slots for intimate views of selected archival items.

Additional exhibitions will explore Bowie's iconic personas, creative collaborations, and the making of his 1975 album 'Young Americans'.

The Last Dinner Party, an indie rock band, has also curated part of the exhibition, showcasing handwritten lyrics and notes from Bowie's 1976 Isolar tour, emphasizing his influence on their artistic identity.

The exhibition will showcase costumes from Bowie's Ziggy Stardust period, along with outfits worn by other musicians like Sir Elton John and PJ Harvey.

Small displays will narrate the stories behind Bowie's albums and his multifaceted creative endeavors, including unrealized projects and collaborations.

Overall, the exhibition aims to highlight Bowie’s impact on artists and the sense of community he fostered among those who felt outcast or alienated.
