Megadeth's frontman Dave Mustaine announced that their upcoming album and 2026 farewell tour will mark the end of their legendary career, which began in 1983.

Mustaine expressed deep gratitude to fans for their support over the years and reflected on the band's influence on metal music, pioneering a revolutionary guitar style.

Fans can sign up for early access to updates about the final album, memoir, and farewell tour, which is expected to be highly emotional and historic.

Currently, Megadeth is touring Europe from late September to late October 2025, with notable stops in Istanbul and Glasgow, among other cities.

The band has a rich discography, including influential albums like 'Peace Sells... But Who’s Buying?', 'Rust In Peace', and recent critically acclaimed releases such as 'The Sick, The Dying... And The Dead!'

Their latest album, 'The Sick, The Dying... And The Dead!', released in September 2022, reached No. 3 on the Billboard 200, showcasing their enduring popularity.

The current lineup features Mustaine, bassist James LoMenzo, drummer Dirk Verbeuren, and guitarist Teemu Mäntysaari, who joined in 2023, likely forming their final ensemble.

The farewell tour will feature the current lineup, offering fans a last chance to experience Megadeth live, with anticipation high for classic songs like 'Holy Wars... The Punishment Due'.

While the current lineup is expected to be the last, the band’s future remains open, and pre-orders for their final, yet-to-be-titled album are expected soon, with a single planned for release later this year.

The final album is being produced by Chris Rakestraw, who previously worked on their 2016 and 2022 albums, and will continue their thrash metal style with a fiery cover featuring Vic Rattlehead.

Throughout their history, Megadeth has experienced lineup changes, legal disputes, and health issues, including Mustaine’s nerve injury and the departure of bassist David Ellefson in 2021 amid misconduct allegations.
