Samsung Unifies Smart Home Experience with One UI Expansion to Appliances
August 25, 2025
Samsung is expanding its One UI interface beyond smartphones and tablets to include its smart home appliances, aiming to unify the user experience across all devices.
This move, announced by Samsung's EVP Jeong Seung Moon, is designed to transform how users interact with technology at home by creating a seamless interface across TVs, appliances, and mobile devices.
Starting next month, Samsung will roll out software updates for its 2024 Wi-Fi-enabled appliances, supporting up to seven years of updates, to enhance functionality and security.
These updates will specifically apply to Samsung's smart home appliances launched in 2024, ensuring long-term support and improved connectivity.
The SmartThings platform will facilitate easier device management and connectivity, integrating services like Family Care, Pet Care, and Home Care for a more connected smart home experience.
Upcoming updates will expand security with Knox Matrix, improve AI Vision on refrigerators, add Voice ID support for Bixby, and extend Samsung TV Plus service to Canada, Brazil, and India.
A new feature called Now Brief will be available on appliances next year, offering personalized AI-powered updates like weather, recipes, and insights, similar to smartphone interfaces.
This integration will include features like Common UI, app support, and device connectivity, allowing seamless interaction between devices such as Bixby, Gallery, and Samsung TV Plus.
The overarching goal of these updates is to deliver a cohesive and intuitive user experience across Samsung's ecosystem, making interactions feel natural and familiar.
The update will introduce new security features such as Knox Matrix, AI Vision Inside for appliances with built-in displays, and Bixby voice ID recognition, enhancing device security and usability.
The One UI update will also enable access to services like Bixby, Gallery, Samsung TV Plus, and SmartThings, providing a more integrated and user-friendly experience.
