The Albanese government is facing mounting pressure to disclose a confidential report concerning an automated system that resulted in the unlawful cancellation of 946 Jobseeker payments between April 2022 and July 2024.

Commissioned by the Commonwealth watchdog, the report, which was completed in June 2025, revealed potentially severe consequences for vulnerable Australians due to these automated cancellations.

Commonwealth Ombudsman Iain Anderson criticized the Targeted Compliance Framework (TCF) as unstable, warning that it could lead to unlawful outcomes that adversely affect job seekers.

Despite concerns raised by external legal advisers, DEWR secretary Natalie James took 10 months to pause these automated cancellations.

While Employment Minister Amanda Rishworth has not confirmed the release date for the Deloitte report, she acknowledged the importance of implementing the recommendations from Anderson's report.

Greens senator Penny Allman-Payne has sought to obtain the report for Senate review, but her request has been delayed by the Department of Employment and Workplace Relations (DEWR), which cited the need for additional time.

Senator Allman-Payne has accused the government of inaction, drawing parallels to the previous 'robodebt' scandal, and has called for an immediate halt to payment suspensions.

Cassandra Goldie from the Australian Council of Social Service has also demanded the report's release, emphasizing the harmful effects of the automated system on welfare recipients.

Deloitte was compensated $439,142 for conducting an assurance review of the TCF, yet the findings remain unpublished.
