MakeMyTrip has introduced Myra, a GenAI-powered trip planning assistant designed to enhance the travel experience by offering conversational assistance in both English and Hindi.

This innovative assistant supports multimodal input, allowing users to interact through text, voice, images, and videos, while also facilitating continuous dialogue and itinerary modifications.

Myra is equipped to understand complex user queries, providing personalized recommendations that encompass price, availability, and travel routes.

Rajesh Magow, Co-Founder and Group CEO of MakeMyTrip, highlighted the significance of intuitive technology in solving complex travel issues and enhancing user experience, particularly for underserved populations in India.

The launch aims to make travel more accessible to millions of Indians who may be uncomfortable with English or traditional app interfaces, targeting the next 500 million users by incorporating AI into voice and expanding to multiple Indian languages.

Sanjay Mohan, Group CTO, described the development of Myra as one of the company's most ambitious tech projects, featuring custom language models and a multi-agent AI framework that ensures real-time responses across various travel categories.

Future enhancements will focus on improving semantic search capabilities and expanding the assistant's functionality, although business-to-business booking transactions are not yet integrated.

The platform intends to leverage customer data, personalization, and real-time intelligence to create connected journeys that adapt to individual travelers' needs.

MakeMyTrip has a history of integrating AI into its services, with features like Fare Lock and predictive tools for train bookings, and continues to innovate with a strong focus on user needs.
