Woman Extradited from Belize to Face 100+ Animal Cruelty Charges in Bucks County's Largest Case
September 22, 2025
Abigail Tuttle O'Keeffe was transported from Belize to Pennsylvania by U.S. Marshals to face over 100 charges of animal cruelty, marking the largest such case in Bucks County history.
O'Keeffe was initially uncooperative and left the U.S. after charges were filed, but was arrested in Belize in April 2025 for possessing a firearm, after which her extradition was coordinated by U.S. authorities.
Her charges include two felony counts of aggravated cruelty resulting in animal deaths, along with multiple counts of neglect and violations related to unsanitary conditions and failure to provide veterinary care.
She is scheduled for a preliminary court hearing on October 2, 2025, to proceed with legal proceedings.
The U.S. Marshals, working with multiple agencies including INTERPOL and Belize law enforcement, led a coordinated effort to extradite her, which was described as an exceptional operation.
Investigations revealed that animals at her farm, Narrow Way Farm, suffered from malnutrition, heavy parasitic loads, and were fed substandard by-products without veterinary care, leading to several animal deaths.
In August 2024, the Bucks County SPCA seized over two dozen animals from the farm due to mistreatment, finding many in poor health, with some dead or dying, and others suffering from treatable illnesses.
More than 100 animals were removed from the farm, some requiring veterinary care or euthanasia, and the farm was found to be involved in illegal activities including possession of marijuana, THC or CBD oil, and firearms.
During her absence, farm staff expressed concerns about animal health, with O'Keeffe instructing them to treat animals only with over-the-counter medications despite ongoing deterioration.
O'Keeffe left the U.S. for Belize in July 2024, initially claiming to seek residency after a brief vacation, and her absence was managed by farm volunteers and the farm manager.
Her criminal case was settled in Belize on September 18, 2025, leading to her extradition, which was coordinated by the U.S. State Department and law enforcement agencies.
She was arrested in Belize in April 2024 for firearm possession, and her extradition involved cooperation between U.S. Marshals, the State Department, and Belize authorities.
