Music expert Mark Hochman emphasized that such memorabilia serve as cultural touchstones, reflecting the band's influence and legacy.
A highly anticipated Propstore auction is set to feature over 150 Oasis items, including Noel Gallagher's iconic Takamine acoustic guitar used to record 'Wonderwall', with an estimated value between £200,000 and £400,000.
This guitar, a 1960 cherry red Gibson ES-355, gained notoriety after being damaged during a backstage brawl at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris, an incident linked to the band's breakup.
Despite their past conflicts, Oasis reunited this summer, and their reunion is estimated to generate around £400 million through touring.
Oasis is currently on a reunion tour, with their final UK shows at Wembley Stadium scheduled for September 27 and 28, 2025, which sold out rapidly, before heading to international dates in Asia and South America.
The band has also released official live recordings from their tour, including a highly praised performance in Cardiff that received a five-star review from NME.
In celebration of their 30th anniversary, Oasis released an unplugged version of ‘Morning Glory’ from their upcoming reissue, highlighting ongoing engagement with fans and nostalgia.
This reissue includes acoustic versions of hits, and the band shared the unplugged ‘Morning Glory’ ahead of their tour, which features their classic sound in a new format.
The damaged guitar was used by Noel Gallagher and Gem Archer during Oasis’s 2008 Dig Out Your Soul tour, and it appeared in both studio recordings and live performances at venues like Wembley Arena.
Liam Gallagher reportedly chose this guitar for the backstage fight because he knew it was one of Noel Gallagher’s favorites, as Noel revealed in 2011.
The guitar’s history as a symbol of the band’s breakup and the backstage brawl adds to its collectible value, making it a sought-after item for fans and collectors.
Zak Starkey, Oasis’s former drummer, expressed pride in offering genuine memorabilia, emphasizing its cultural significance and the band’s enduring legacy.
The sale of this guitar, along with other memorabilia, is part of Propstore’s Music Memorabilia Auction, with estimated prices ranging from £250,000 to £500,000.
