Perth Man Jailed for Running Cruel Puppy Farm, Over 100 Dogs Rescued in Neglect Case
October 28, 2026
RSPCA WA inspectors found over 100 dogs living in severe neglect at the property in December 2024, including groodles, golden retrievers, corgis, French bulldogs, and cocker spaniels, with many suffering medical issues.
Beyond imprisonment, the man was ordered to pay $5,000 for breaching a forfeiture order and for selling a golden retriever puppy after the order was issued.
Magistrate Sandra De Maio described the offender as deceitful and lacking credibility, condemning his treatment of the dogs and saying he abandoned them to suffer in appalling conditions.
A Perth man received a nine-month jail sentence for running a cruel puppy farm in Canning Vale, where authorities believe he bred nearly 400 dogs over four years.
The owner admitted ownership and acknowledged veterinary needs but refused to seek veterinary care for the dogs, even claiming to treat an injury with honey at one point.
RSPCA WA inspector manager Kylie Green called it the worst puppy farming case she had seen, underscoring the broader harm when animals are treated as commodities for profit.
Investigators found puppies from the Canning Vale property moved to a Como home to disguise their origin, with prosecutors estimating sales could have surpassed $1 million between 2021 and 2025.
Many of the dogs were rehomed through the RSPCA’s foster carer network after the intervention.
During the initial inspection, 22 of the 117 seized dogs had to be euthanized due to serious health problems, and many others showed signs of prolonged neglect.
