Bee Network Launches Apple Wallet Integration for Seamless Bus and Tram Payments in Greater Manchester
October 7, 2026
Bee Network now lets users buy bus and tram tickets directly in Apple Wallet and store them on the virtual Bee Card for tap-to-pay on Bee Network readers.
This builds on the Our Pass initiative, expanding from 16- to 18-year-olds to Apple users of all ages.
The Bee Card for Bee Network in Greater Manchester is fully supported in Apple Wallet for all Bee Network tickets, not just the discounted Our Pass eligibility.
Express Mode can be turned on to enable payment without waking or unlocking the device when near a reader.
Vernon Everitt, Transport Commissioner for Greater Manchester, says the expansion modernizes fare payments, emphasizing ease of use, privacy, and ongoing fare-management improvements like night buses and low fares.
Everitt describes the expansion as an easy, secure, and private way to pay for travel as Bee Network integrates buses, trams, and future local rail services.
At launch, eight adult and family tickets are available, including 1-day and 7-day Bee Bus tickets, all-zone weekend and 7-day tram tickets, family options, and combined bus-and-tram tickets.
Express Mode is supported for taps without waking or unlocking; requires iOS 27+ and devices such as iPhone XR or later or Apple Watch Series 6 or later.
Adding the Bee Card requires running iOS/iPadOS 27, as the Wallet Bee Card integration needs this OS.
Bee Wallet tickets can cover buses, trams, or both, with plans to expand to trains in the future.
