Queensland Police outline the case after a year-long Operation Xray Wick, which began with seizure of electronic devices from the Maryborough home of the suspect.

A 27-year-old Queensland man has been charged with 596 offences related to producing child abuse material and sexually exploiting children online, allegedly grooming hundreds of kids across Australia and abroad.

The grooming spanned social media and gaming platforms from 2018 to 2025, with the suspect allegedly creating multiple profiles and directly coercing victims to obtain material.

The targeted victims were predominantly aged 7 to 15, with some as young as seven, and the offences involved exploiting children across Australia and internationally.

Investigators say the offender meticulously saved and organized material into named folders, indicating a systematic approach to the abuse.

Much of the material was self-produced, with interactions recorded and content saved in a structured, organized way.

Overall, investigators identified 259 confirmed child victims and allege there were 459 total victims from about 23,000 videos and images across 2018–2025.

The 23,000-plus videos and images involved victims across multiple Australian jurisdictions and overseas, with the majority believed to be in English-speaking countries.

Police note that identifying victims required substantial time and expertise and emphasize ongoing online safety efforts for families and caregivers.

The case was built through collaboration among child abuse detectives, digital forensics teams, interstate and international police, and the Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation, with ongoing victim identification and support.

Authorities are cooperating with international partners to identify victims and ensure appropriate support amid concerns about grooming on popular apps, games, and social platforms.

Police arrested the suspect in February 2025, he was refused bail, and he is due to appear in Brisbane court.
