Dan Walker Faces Tribunal Over Racial, Sexist Allegations by Former Co-Host Vanderpuije
April 12, 2026
Dan Walker is set to face an employment tribunal over allegations by former Channel 5 News co-host Claudia-Liza Vanderpuije, who accuses racial and sexist discrimination, unfair dismissal, harassment on grounds of race and sex, and breach of contract.
Vanderpuije, who worked alongside Walker from 2022 to 2023, also alleges detriment or dismissal for whistleblowing under the Public Interest Disclosure Act.
Her claims include unfair dismissal, discrimination and harassment on race and sex grounds, breach of contract, and protected whistleblowing detriment under the Act.
Walker's representatives have been contacted for comment, while Vanderpuije’s representatives could not be reached by Newsquest.
ITN says the claim is denied in full and will be addressed through the tribunal process; an internal inquiry into Walker’s conduct reportedly found no misconduct.
Walker has said an independent inquiry vindicated him when addressing the Telegraph about the matter, following a prior internal investigation that did not uphold misconduct.
An internal investigation into Vanderpuije’s allegations against Walker reportedly did not uphold any findings of misconduct.
Vanderpuije has hired lawyer Jonathan Coad, formerly associated with Phillip Schofield, to represent her; Coad has previously attempted to settle the complaint twice without success.
Walker, a former BBC Breakfast presenter and current Classic FM weekday breakfast host, is named as a respondent alongside Channel 5, ITN and Paramount Global (Channel 5’s owner) in the tribunal.
Walker's background includes BBC Breakfast and a stint on Strictly Come Dancing; he currently presents the weekday breakfast show on Classic FM.
The employment tribunal hearing is scheduled to begin in London on April 20 and is expected to last five days.
The Mail on Sunday reports Walker strongly denies sexism, misogyny, racism, or bullying and notes broad support, including more than 50 character witness statements from BBC colleagues, Olympians, and footballers.
