The 16 new locations will include Hattersley (Greater Manchester), Newport (Isle of Wight), Bishops Cleeve (Cheltenham), Newport (South Wales), Orpington and Hoxton (London), Ashford (Kent), Watford (London), Rayleigh (Essex), Balsall Common (West Midlands), Marble Arch (London), Malton (North Yorkshire), Port Talbot (Wales), Sutton Coldfield (West London), Wigan (Greater Manchester), and Sudbury (Suffolk).

Specific sites include Watford and Hoxton in London, Hattersley in Greater Manchester, and Balsall Common in the West Midlands, among others.

The 16-store rollout spans London, Greater Manchester, the West Midlands, and other regions including Newport, Cheltenham, Essex, Kent, North Yorkshire, Wales, and Suffolk.

Aldi did not provide exact opening dates for the new branches.

Aldi unveiled plans to open 16 new stores across the United Kingdom in the coming months as part of its long-term push to reach 1,500 UK sites.

The expansion follows the company's recent Salford Quays store and brings this year’s store investment to £370 million.

Aldi has signaled an ambition to open around 40 new stores in 2026, with the latest 16 openings contributing to progress toward that goal.

Meanwhile, other major retailers such as Sainsbury’s, Primark, and John Lewis have also raised hourly pay in 2026.

In April, Aldi raised pay for store assistants to £13.50 an hour nationally and £14.88 inside the M25, with progression up to £15.20 based on tenure, benefiting about 28,000 hourly workers.

Jonathan Neale, Aldi UK’s managing director of national real estate, stressed that the expansion will make high-quality, affordable food accessible while supporting local economies and offering industry-leading pay for colleagues.
