Perth Pediatrician Faces 31 New Charges in Child Exploitation Case, Medical License Suspended
June 19, 2026
In Perth, pediatrician Chia Liang Saw, a former consultant at several hospitals including facilities in Nedlands and Midland, faces allegations tied to his workplace.
Investigations allege offenses occurred at Saw’s Perth hospital workplaces, with a reported hidden camera in an examination room emerging as part of the case.
At the time of the allegations, Saw was employed as a consultant pediatrician at St John of God hospitals across Perth and had served as a clinical lecturer at Curtin University, according to his LinkedIn profile.
Saw was charged in May and remains remanded in custody at Hakea Prison, with a bail application scheduled at Perth Magistrates Court.
Detectives are appealing to the public through Crime Stoppers for information about this case or similar incidents.
Police began an extensive May investigation that identified nine additional victims and broadened the case against the 41-year-old doctor.
Saw is set to appear in Perth Magistrates Court on the Friday following the report date.
A bail hearing was delayed as prosecutors indicated the case was still developing; Saw is due to reappear for bail considerations.
Saw has faced additional charges related to sexual conduct with minors, with 31 new counts added to earlier charges.
The new charges include seven counts of indecent dealing with a child under 13, producing child exploitation material, along with other offenses involving older minors and indecent recordings.
Police say nine more alleged victims have come forward, following initial charges for sexual conduct with a child and possession of child exploitation material.
The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency has suspended Saw’s medical registration amid the allegations, pending the criminal proceedings.
