Anthropic is expanding Claude’s reach beyond biology into broader scientific domains and compute-intensive research, aiming to advance progress across disciplines with reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI.

This expansion is anchored by Claude Science, a research-focused workbench unveiled in June, which now covers multiple disciplines and is being rolled out to broader access.

Promotion terms include free standard seats and $15 premium seats (regularly $20 and $100 respectively), valid for 12 months from sign-up or launch, with inactivity after 90 days potentially dialing back to standard pricing.

Enrollment requires verification for PIs at academic or nonprofit institutions, with labs able to onboard researchers once verified; researchers can request up to $50,000 in credits per project through the AI for Science program.

Researchers enroll via the program’s verification process; verified labs can add team members and access additional credits as needed, and Anthropic is piloting access models like Fable and Mythos-class systems for research.

Anthropic counts several collaborations in government and private sectors, including a December 2025 DOE partnership, a Commerce Department agreement for Mythos models, and partnerships with Novo Nordisk and AstraZeneca.

Some biology and chemistry tasks remain restricted to Opus-class models, while Mythos-class access for life sciences is being expanded through a government-partnered program; first participants have been enrolled with more to come.

Anthropic states it does not train on users’ conversations, uploaded files, or research data.
