Turing Expands GPAI to Global AI Platform for All College Majors with $5.1M Series B Funding
September 1, 2026
Turing is expanding GPAI from a STEM-focused tool into a full AI platform that serves college students across all majors worldwide.
The latest round includes continued support from existing investor Kolon Investment and new backers Korea Development Bank, Kingo Investment Partners, and Company K Partners.
Since launch, GPAI has grown to over 1.5 million subscribers and is in use at 415 U.S. universities, including MIT, Harvard, and Stanford.
Management acknowledges that shifting to a free tier and scaling localization may impact short-term profitability as the product goes global.
GPAI’s edge comes from addressing the entire academic workflow rather than general AI, with the U.S. market seen as a central battleground due to adoption at top research universities.
Turing aims to expand B2B and B2G partnerships with universities and research institutions, leveraging GPAI’s capabilities and its EMNLP 2025 industry-track acceptance.
The company plans to move all paid GPAI features to a free model in time for back-to-school, offering the full academic workflow at no cost.
Investors cited GPAI’s high utility, rapid global expansion, and potential to become the go-to AI service for college students regardless of major or country.
The Series B round totaled 7 billion shillings (about $5.1 million) to support GPAI’s development and growth as an AI agent for students.
