The administration has pressed for a federal appeals court ruling to uphold a rule from the prior year that would revoke commercial licenses of nearly 200,000 drivers born outside the United States, expanding immigration enforcement into the trucking sector.

With roughly three-quarters of U.S. freight moved by truck and about 18% of truck drivers foreign-born, government figures suggest the policy could have sizable ripple effects on the industry and supply chains.

In tandem, Homeland Security has stepped up its enforcement against truck drivers, including foreign-born workers, conducting sweeps at rest stops, weigh stations, and travel centers, with videos of ICE activity circulating online.
