New Energy Law Mandates Transparent Pricing and Consistent Discounts for Electricity and Gas Contracts
September 30, 2026
New rules are designed to curb misleading price comparisons that rely on front-loaded discounts and to ensure pricing transparency for new contracts.
The regulations cover both electricity and natural gas contracts, regulating how discounts are shown and maintained throughout the contract term.
Starting October 1, discounts must apply from the first kilowatt-hour and remain in effect for the full contract duration, making savings immediate and lasting visible.
Energy suppliers are prohibited from changing a product’s pricing terms for new contracts in the middle of a month while keeping the same product name, reducing consumer confusion.
