Home Team Academy Unveils High-Tech Training with VR and AI Upgrades for Enhanced Officer Preparedness
September 8, 2026
The enhanced training village will support repeated practice of critical drills in realistic scenarios, boosting decision-making and operational readiness.
An incident management simulation system will allow joint, integrated training across Home Team departments in complex scenarios.
The Home Team Academy (HTA) is upgrading training with a virtual shooting range, a training village featuring virtual and augmented reality, and an incident management simulation system to train officers from multiple agencies.
The virtual shooting range will use realistic weapon replicas, recoil, and sound to enable safe, scalable shoot-or-no-shoot decision-making practice alongside live-fire training.
The Home Team Gallery will open to the public in December, with booking details released in November.
HTA will add new facilities on campus, including an indoor running track at a new IPPT centre and a revamped seven-zone Home Team Gallery with AI avatars, updated artefacts, and multimedia game stations.
The revamped Gallery will feature artefacts such as a revolver smuggling case and a 1968 AK47 used in a police shoot-out, and will include AI avatars of current and former officers, including Deputy Superintendent Morton Jr William Adam.
To mark its 20th anniversary in 2026, upgrades aim to equip officers from the Singapore Police Force, Immigration and Checkpoints Authority, Central Narcotics Bureau, and Internal Security Department for a dynamic, digital, fast-moving threat environment.
HTA will deploy artificial intelligence to assist with content creation, automate assessments, and personalize learning, while keeping human judgment central to coaching, critical thinking, and professional judgment.
Overall, the upgrades position HTA to deliver integrated, technologically advanced training across agencies as part of a broader modernization effort.
