France has submitted a bid to host the 2030 Winter Olympics with a budget of 1.5 billion euros.

The bid is supported by two French regions and plans to use facilities from the 1992 Albertville Winter Olympics.

Proposed sites include popular ski resorts and the International Olympic Committee believes France has the necessary experience and funding.

French President Emmanuel Macron and biathlete Martin Fourcade expressed enthusiasm for the bid, highlighting its innovative and inclusive nature.

The next phase will focus on investments, infrastructure, and security, with transportation and railway connections as key priorities.

Private sources will be targeted for funding and safety and security assurances are expected by March 2024.

The IOC will announce the final decision in July 2024.
