Microsoft has established a new AI division, appointing Mustafa Suleyman, co-founder of DeepMind, as its CEO.

Suleyman's role will focus on consumer AI products, such as the Copilot chatbot, and he is joined by his former Inflection co-founder, Karén Simonyan.

The creation of this division and Suleyman's leadership signify Microsoft's escalated efforts to compete in the AI industry against rivals like Google.

As EVP and CEO of the Microsoft AI group, Suleyman will also manage Bing, Edge, and the GenAI team, with Simonyan serving as the chief scientist.

Microsoft has reinforced its dedication to AI through a strategic $10 billion investment in OpenAI, bolstering its innovation and infrastructure in the AI realm.
