Chinese tech-firm ShengShu-AI and Tsinghua University introduced Vidu, China's first large AI model for one-click high-definition video creation, at the 2024 Zhongguancun Forum.

Vidu can produce a 16-second 1080P video clip using the innovative Universal Vision Transformer (U-ViT) architecture, which excels in simulating detailed, real-world scenes and incorporating distinctive Chinese elements.

The technology behind Vidu predates that of competitor Sora's model, positioning the research team as pioneers in the AI video generation space.

The unveiling of Vidu signifies China's commitment to competing in the global AI industry, following closely on the heels of recent international developments.

Tsinghua University has launched the School of Artificial Intelligence, led by Turing Award laureate Andrew Chi-Chih Yao, to foster AI research and education.
