Ampere Computing has announced a partnership with Qualcomm to launch a new 256-core processor next year, utilizing TSMC's N3 technology.

The roadmap includes developing AI inference servers with Qualcomm's accelerators and adding third-party UCIe-compatible chiplets.

A 192-core AmpereOne processor is currently being shipped by Ampere, with an upgrade to a 12-channel DDR5 memory planned for later this year.

The upcoming 256-core CPU is projected to outperform existing CPUs by 40%, indicating a significant advancement in processing power.

Ampere is focusing on customization, preparing to support customer-generated IPs in their future CPU designs.
