Oracle Partners with Singapore to Boost Defense Security via Isolated Cloud AI Services
March 19, 2025
The Defence Science and Technology Agency (DSTA) will utilize Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) to boost operational efficiency, cybersecurity, and scalability in defense operations.
Oracle has secured its first agreement in Southeast Asia to provide isolated cloud computing and AI services to Singapore's defense technology agency.
The OCI platform is capable of handling classified workloads in environments that manage information classified up to the 'Secret' level.
Rand Waldron, Oracle's global defense chief technology officer, emphasized that the technology will enable advanced AI tools, including capabilities for analyzing video streams.
The solution ensures that all data remains within Singapore's borders, allowing for secure storage and management of sensitive information.
Although the financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, this partnership aligns with Oracle's broader strategy to expand its presence in Southeast Asia, complementing its recent $6.5 billion investment in Malaysia.
This isolated cloud environment aims to enhance the SAF's Command, Control, Communications, and Computers (C4) functions, offering improved scalability and performance.
DSTA chief executive Ng Chad-Son highlighted the increasing demand for secure and scalable cloud solutions, which he believes will be foundational for innovation in defense operations.
This partnership will leverage a hyperscale, air-gapped cloud infrastructure that is completely disconnected from the internet, ensuring enhanced security for the Singapore Armed Forces (SAF).
Artificial Intelligence (AI) will play a crucial role in processing information, thereby enhancing decision-making capabilities within MINDEF operations.
This initiative supports Singapore's objective to strengthen digital resilience and modernize its defense capabilities amid rising regional tensions.
The partnership aims to deliver advanced isolated cloud computing solutions designed to enhance cybersecurity in response to increasing threats in the region.
