India has emerged as a crucial market for Apple, generating $8 billion in hardware sales and $14 billion in iPhone exports, alongside significant app revenues.

In 2024, the App Store ecosystem in India generated an impressive Rs 44,447 crore ($5.31 billion) in developer revenue, with over 94% of this amount going directly to developers.

Apple has demonstrated its commitment to security by preventing over $7 billion in fraudulent transactions and rejecting more than 1.7 million app submissions for not meeting privacy, security, and quality standards between 2020 and 2023.

This rigorous approach ensures a trusted environment for both users and developers, maintaining high standards within the App Store.

The report titled 'The Apple Ecosystem in India: Its Value to Developers and Users' highlights that developers have diversified their monetization strategies across various app categories since the App Store's launch 15 years ago.

The India storefront also saw a remarkable 1.1 billion app downloads in 2024, underscoring the growing popularity of apps among users.

Downloads of Indian-made apps have doubled over the last five years, surpassing 755 million globally, which highlights their increasing international appeal.

Tim Cook, Apple's CEO, referred to the App Store as an 'economic miracle' for developers in India and reaffirmed the company's commitment to fostering their growth.

Looking ahead, Apple plans to enhance tools and resources to support the ongoing growth of the App Store, reinforcing its significance for both local and international success for Indian developers.

The App Store ecosystem supports over 1 million jobs across India, encompassing various sectors such as app development, marketing, and support services.

To further assist developers, Apple has established the Apple Developer Center in Bengaluru, which provides training, support, and access to over 250,000 APIs.

Since 2017, more than 18,000 developers have benefited from Apple's training programs and developer sessions, enhancing their skills and app development capabilities.
