Spotify has launched an enhanced AI DJ feature that allows Premium subscribers to interact using voice commands, enabling them to request specific music or mood changes.

The update aims to enhance user interaction with the platform, making it more intuitive and engaging.

Currently, the voice command feature is limited to music requests and does not support audiobooks or podcasts, although improvements are planned.

Additionally, a new 'Enable all play modes' toggle allows users to disable Smart Shuffle, addressing feedback regarding this feature.

Spotify has introduced a '30-day Snooze' button, enabling users to temporarily pause tracks they don't want to hear, refreshing their playlists without permanently removing songs.

This feature became available on May 13, 2025, and is accessible in over 60 countries.

In its latest quarterly report, Spotify reported 268 million premium subscribers and record operating profits, underscoring its growth and innovation strategy.

In a blog post announcing the update, Spotify emphasized the AI DJ's ability to adjust playlists for various occasions, such as date nights or parties.

Previously, the AI DJ only shuffled tracks without user interaction, making this update a significant improvement.

Recent updates also include new mobile playlist management tools, allowing users to easily add, sort, and edit playlists, as well as create custom cover art.

These updates are part of Spotify's ongoing efforts to maintain a competitive edge in the streaming industry by integrating more intuitive AI-driven music curation.

The AI DJ feature was first launched in early 2023 in the U.S. and Canada, with a global rollout following in August 2023.
