DJI has announced the Mini 5 Pro, a compact drone equipped with a 50-megapixel one-inch-type sensor, offering more than twice the sensor area of its predecessor, the Mini 4 Pro, and improved light capture.

The Mini 5 Pro delivers up to 36 minutes of flight time, remains under 250g for portability, and features advanced video capabilities including 4K HDR recording at 60fps, slow-motion at 4K 120fps, and support for 10-bit color formats like D-Log M and HLG.

Enhanced safety features include omnidirectional obstacle sensing with front-facing LiDAR, making night flying safer, along with automatic power-on when unfolded and a gimbal that rotates up to 225 degrees for creative filming.

US market restrictions limit availability, with DJI not officially selling or creating a product website in the US, and pre-orders only through third-party retailers, often out of stock.

The drone can be paired with either the standard RC-N3 controller or the new RC-2 with a built-in screen, with the latter recommended for its convenience in bright conditions.

Battery life has been improved to 36 minutes with standard batteries and up to 52 minutes with the long-life battery, which is the longest among DJI non-industrial drones, supported by fast charging that recharges three batteries in about 115 minutes.

Connectivity features include Off-State QuickTransfer and the latest O4+ transmission system, offering up to 20 km range with 10-bit live feed support for reliable, high-quality streaming.

The Mini 5 Pro’s gimbal can rotate up to 225 degrees, enabling seamless vertical video, and it includes advanced features like ActiveTrack 360°, QuickShots, and LIDAR obstacle avoidance for enhanced low-light navigation and safety.

Set to redefine industry standards, the Mini 5 Pro aims to democratize professional-grade aerial imaging and set new benchmarks for night flight safety and sensor technology in ultra-light drones, influencing future trends.

Pricing in Europe starts at €799 (~$850), with Fly More Combo options priced higher, and in the US, the standard version costs around $947, available through DJI’s online store and authorized retailers.

The Mini 5 Pro is available in Taiwan and other markets, with a starting price of NT$22,090 in Taiwan, and global availability varies, with immediate release in Europe and ongoing rollouts in Asia and the US.

The drone supports real-time vision positioning, non-GNSS Return-to-Home, and improved ActiveTrack 360° for better subject tracking, suitable for professional photography, real estate, and travel content.
