Apple Expands Supplier Training in India with New Education Hub, Boosts Smartphone Market Share
February 4, 2026
Apple is expanding its Supplier Employee Development Fund in India, adding more than 25 supplier sites and starting with Tata Electronics to offer courses in digital literacy, Swift coding, robotics, automation, and smart manufacturing.
A centralized Education Hub, created with Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE), will launch courses in March and will train supplier instructors to deliver sessions across India.
The Education Hub will serve as a central training space, pairing MAHE faculty with supplier instructors to scale technical education nationwide.
Inclusion efforts include expanding the Vocational Education for Persons with Disabilities program in India, building on partnerships with Enable India and SalComp to improve accessibility, safety, and employment opportunities.
India now accounts for a record 28% of Apple’s smartphone market value in 2025, up from 23% in 2024, helped by premium device demand and rising exports.
Apple’s current Indian manufacturing footprint includes five iPhone assembly plants: three operated by Tata Group entities and two by Foxconn.
Globally, Apple’s Supplier Employee Development Fund has benefited more than 18,000 supplier employees across the supply chain.
MAHE leadership described the collaboration as aligning industry needs with applied education to benefit supplier communities essential to India’s manufacturing ecosystem.
Apple’s ongoing global programs include rights awareness training, professional and health education, and community resilience efforts for suppliers, with a focus on rights and workplace protections.
The initiatives reflect Apple’s diversification of its manufacturing base away from China and its expansion in India.
Apple executives emphasize expanding technical training for thousands of supplier employees to support career growth across the global supply chain.
Education Hub programs will be available at more than 25 supplier sites nationwide, increasing access to training.
