Qualcomm is expanding OS support for Snapdragon X-series beyond Windows, targeting Google’s PC platform based on Gemini Intelligence and planning Linux compatibility to broaden the ecosystem.

The company argues that PCs offer ample thermal headroom and sustained performance, making them ideal for local AI inference and as anchor nodes in a distributed fabric coordinating edge, cloud, and device AI workloads.

Windows-on-Snapdragon compatibility is now mature, with more than 7,300 Windows apps running on Snapdragon PCs.

The Snapdragon X Extreme PC chipset, launched in 2023 and entering commercial products in 2024, has matured into a stable Windows ecosystem in roughly two years.

Qualcomm reports a growing Snapdragon PC ecosystem, including over 170 products from major PC makers and interoperability validation for more than 1,800 peripherals, supported by a global distribution network with 120+ retail partners and 12,300+ locations.

OEMs are expanding Snapdragon-powered lines, with Lenovo adding mini PCs and all-in-one models, Asus releasing Zenbook and Ascent QN10, HP deploying Snapdragon in premium and enterprise AI PCs, and Dell, Acer, and Humane launching or planning Snapdragon X-series devices.

Gemini Intelligence is Google’s AI agent system that runs on Snapdragon X Elite hardware to optimize computing environments and enable AI agents.
