WhatsApp is testing a new circular green tab indicator for Android as part of a bottom navigation bar redesign in beta version 2.26.41.7 to signal the active tab.

There is no announced release date yet, and the redesign is still under development with potential changes before public release.

Users are advised to download updates only from official sources, as unreleased features from third-party sources may pose security risks.

The change mirrors WhatsApp’s iOS navigation style and is being tested in both light and dark themes, without introducing new messaging features.

The redesign features a rounded, floating bottom navigation bar and may remove text labels in favor of icon-only navigation for Chats, Updates, Communities, and Calls.

This design has not yet been released to regular users or testers, indicating early-stage testing.

The new indicator replaces the previous pill-shaped highlight with a small green circle behind the icon to show the active tab.
