LaTanya Richardson Jackson is currently captivating audiences in the Broadway play 'Purpose' and is recognized as a two-time Tony Award-nominated actress, director, and producer.

A proud Spelman College graduate, she and her husband, Samuel L. Jackson, established the LaTanya Richardson Jackson and Samuel L. Jackson Performing Arts Center.

On screen, Jackson has showcased her talent in series like 'Show Me A Hero' and 'Grey’s Anatomy', as well as in films such as 'Losing Isaiah' and 'The Fighting Temptations'.

She directed and starred in the acclaimed short film 'Hairstory', which is set for a restoration premiere in December 2025 at the Academy Museum in Los Angeles.

As a producer, she has made significant contributions by executive producing the limited series 'The Last Days of Ptolemy Grey' and the documentary series 'Enslaved'.

Recently, LaTanya was honored with a portrait unveiling at Sardi's, a historic venue in Broadway, celebrating her impactful contributions to the theater.

Her notable Broadway performances include iconic roles such as Lena Younger in 'A Raisin in the Sun', Calpurnia in 'To Kill A Mockingbird', and Bertha Holly in 'Joe Turner’s Come and Gone'.

In 2022, she made history as the first woman to direct an August Wilson play on Broadway with 'The Piano Lesson', which earned a Tony nomination for Best Revival of a Play.

Her extensive theater work also features performances in Shakespeare’s 'Taming of the Shrew', 'For Colored Girls...', and August Wilson’s 'Century Cycle'.

Additionally, she co-produced the 2023 revival of 'Purlie Victorious', which received a Tony nomination for Best Revival of a Play.
