The National Theater of Korea is launching its 2025-26 season on August 20, emphasizing the integration of traditional arts with a global audience.

This season includes notable productions such as 'Hyomyeong: The Prince of Art' and revivals of classics like 'The Story of Lee Nal-chi' and 'Boheoja: The One Who Paces the Void.'

The National Changgeuk Company will debut 'Pansori Theater Shim Cheong,' offering a modern reinterpretation of the folktale heroine.

A record 72 productions are scheduled for this season, including 25 new works, under the theme 'Together, Go Further,' highlighting Korea's vibrant performing arts scene.

The National Dance Company will present a new piece titled 'Home' and revive other works like 'Book of the Dead' and 'Mask Off,' showcasing contemporary and traditional dance.

Collaborations with various arts groups will feature productions such as 'Dangerous Playground' and 'The Dresser,' exploring themes of ego, aging, and wartime reflection.

Two new festivals are introduced this season: the Korea International Music Theater Festival in September and the Korean Traditional Dance Festival in October.

The Korea International Music Theater Festival will focus on musical theater from Korea, China, and Japan, with future plans to include global talent.

The Korean Traditional Dance Festival will bring together ten public dance companies to celebrate and promote Korean dance traditions.
