Australian Matildas captain and Chelsea player Samantha Kerr will stand trial in February 2025 for allegedly racially harassing a police officer in the UK.

The charge stems from a January 2023 incident involving a taxi fare dispute in Twickenham, south-west London.

Kerr, aged 30, has entered a plea of not guilty during a video hearing and maintains her innocence.

The trial is scheduled to last four days and will include testimony from two police officers.

Despite the pending trial, Kerr remains a celebrated Australian sportsperson and has secured a contract extension with Chelsea.

Kerr will miss the current football season due to a serious knee injury, casting doubt on her availability for the Paris Olympics.
